But you gotta get the Trucoat!

$10,000 ADM and thousands of pointless useless shit tacked on over a $51K Genesis G70(I mean it’s no M4 GTS) to bump it to an eye watering $65,809

Dealer website still lists it only at MSRP. The real kicker comes when you email/call them for “the best price” and God forbid you step into their den. 90's Hyundai/KIA dealership mentality like this is what’s going to be hurting Genesis.

I'd share this with Genesis Corporate, because I'm pretty sure this is against their ethos.

Local dealers had 10K ADMs on Stingers upon introduction. I can’t believe a single one changed hands at those prices, and eventually they ended up with discounts nearly the same as the ADM. I suspect the same will happen here.

I’d pay more to not have pinstriping.

Why do they think they can pull off that up charge? Years ago, when I worked at a Ford dealership, the GT 500 had just come out and they were putting that level of mark up on it. It’s a freaking Genesis, a brand with no history or cache yet. It’s not even in high demand at MSRP.

It’ll languish on the lot for 9 months solid, then they will end up selling it $5K under MSRP. I should add this to my saved vehicles list in Autotrader just to track that.

Yeah Genesis is going to die. The closest Genesis dealer to me is over 200 miles and 2 states away. They should feel lucky someone wants to buy there cars. There is no room for mark up. They should be throwing cash on the hood with this model . The G70 with a 6 speed is $38,895 after shipping.

They’re on life support right now due to their botched standalone dealership rollout but they won’t die. I am rooting for them as the underdog . They will take many years to do great, but they will get there. This is because they are a real value player in the luxury segment, They have the potential to become the Infinti of the 2000s- Sporty German Alternative that’s cheaper but more reliable. don’t look at their lineup just now with 3 cars only, The GV80 crossover is coming soon and they will expand that crossover lineup.

BUT they need to fix their dealers and really provide that luxury experience , and get down hard into crossovers, electrification and hybrids if they don’ t want to die 10- 15 years from now.

Once w hen I had my Fiat 500 I took it to the dealer to have something repaired under warranty, and I walked around the showroom looking at the new ones. They had a new 500 with a “Denver Market Adjustment” of $5k. Not a 500X, mind you, nor an Abarth. IT WAS A POP.

It’s rough going when your stupidity has balls. That dealer isn’t there anymore, but before they died they always had way too many of the previous model year 500s that were new in their inventory. I can’t imagine why.

2017 numbers are more indicative of what real sales would have been for 2018, and possibly add extra 3 0% for G70s to that number in 2019, But the sharp decline was due to them stopping sales at almost all Hyundai-Genesis co- branded dealerships until they were re licensed to operate and later build standalone. Hopefully it will be done end of this year, and by that time the GV80 crossover will be out as well. Let’s see.

In any case your point still stands. They should consider themselves lucky to have people want to buy the cars in the first place. GOOD FUCKING LUCK YOU GREEDY BASTARDS!

A couple of years ago, I bought afterm arket wheels for my BMW, so I bought locks at the same time - that car uses bolts not nuts, and I think a set of 4 was $ 30 maybe from Tire Rack?

To be fair, I have had excellent experience with the local Kia dealer - both when we bought our Niro and subsequent services, and when I test drove a Stinger GT.

Even the local Hyundai-Genesis dealer was cool when I test drove multiple Genesi. But didn’t have to deal with them to buy/lease or service.

But looks like a majority of of the Kiyundai dealers still operate with that buy here pay here used lot mentality. It’s unfortnate that it turns people away from some very strongly competitive products.

Yup, big profit margins on those. But if the buyers don’t want them, the dealerships uses them as negotiating tool during the bargaining process.

In San Diego, dealerships here get a lot of Mexican nationals who come across the border to buy cars, they expect the dealers to negotiate high, which is why so many cars here have add-ons that bring up the MSRP.

I sort of remember that state laws differ when it comes to dealer add ons. Any add on that is “permanent ”, like a sealer or pinstripe, you can by law refuse to pay for here in my state. It’s been a number of years since so I’ll ask the dealers I service about it.

No dealer that I service usually adds anything more than pinstripes and door edge guards. Nothing like the services on that add on sticker such as service loaners, paint protection, etc. etc. Those things are offered add on it ems in the finance office while signing paperwork. I believe it’s done that way here due to law stating customers aren’t required to pay for it if added without their consent.
